Vallagarina, Rovereto, Altopiano di Brentonico

Rovereto and Vallagarina are holiday resorts characterised by a vast natural, historic and cultural heritage. The valley bottom, intersected by the river Adige, is dotted with castles and little towns steeped in history: Ala and the annual “città di velluto” (or velvet city) historic event; Avio and the castle of Sabbionara (cultural heritage of the FAI), the Lavini in Marco and the dinosaur track, the Roman villa in Isera, the castle in Beseno. The nearby valleys of Valle del Leno, Val di Gresta and the Altopiano di Brentonico, with their magnificent natural heritage offer a wide variety of walks: along the old World War I trails; among the organic agricultural estates and up on the peaks and mountain tops, ideal for practising a number of different winter sports.

The city of Rovereto is represented by the oak tree, which is on the city’s coat of arms: in Medieval times, city of San Marco and allied to the Serenissima Republic of Venice; in the 18th century city of silk, characterised by silk-makers and spinning mills; nowadays an important cultural centre with the Mart – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, and also City of Peace, with the daily toll of the Memorial Bell, made from the melted down bronze of cannons to commemorate the victims of all wars.

The area of Rovereto and Vallagarina: where nature, culture and good food come together to create the perfect holiday all year round.
