Castel Firmian
CASTEL FIRMIAN MEZZOCORONA
The exact date of construction of this castle is known, 1480, when Nicoḷ Firmian "a soldier of the Church of Trento and Hereditary Marshal" erected it as a residence, around a pre-existing tower (which may be recognized half way along the southern front). The present appearance is due to heavy restoration work in the 18th century, with obvious additions (although surving fragments are the crenellated wall and the parapet walk). The interior too was radically altered, to be adapted to the taste of the times: from Late Gothic to Late Baroque: for example, the vast central hall with a gallery midway up the wall.
